Anna
Elek

Anna Elek is head of data at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, Jetpack, Beeper, Day One, Pocket Casts, and more. She leads the AI transformation of Automattic’s data stack, helping teams across the organization unlock insights and make better decisions.

Earlier in her career, Anna worked as a staff data analyst at Booking.com, focusing on metrics and analytics for the company’s marketplace and supply APIs. She designed analytics frameworks that align behavior with outcomes. This philosophy—that elegant systems rooted in understanding information and incentives beat bureaucracy—stems from her background in economic policy and shapes how she approaches data leadership today.

Born and raised between languages and cultures, Anna speaks four fluently and reads six more. She’s spent her career moving between Berlin and Budapest, immersed in different ways of seeing the world. That cultural literacy—understanding how people from different backgrounds think, value things, work—informs everything she does. She believes building great products and organizations requires seeing people, not just systems.
